Hand-knotted on looms located in the ancient city of Jaipur, India, this rug and the rugs from this area were an inspiration to William Morris and other noted Arts and Crafts leaders. This design is from a rug woven during the reign of Jahangir (r.1605-1627) whose tomb is located near Shalimar Gardens in Lahore Pakistan. These beautiful gardens are a tribute to a man whose reign saw a renaissance of art and literature.
